Project progress report
Sam and I were finally able to meet this last Wednesday before class and discuss our plans for this project. In order to complete this advocacy project we are going to make a short video concerning local (Puget Sound area) water pollution issues.
Video construction: this will get planned out after some brief research this weekend. Since the video needs to be no longer than about 5 minutes we need to make sure points are made and supported concisely. The first segment will outline current pollution sources and problems in the Sound. The second segment will go over current projects and measures taken to alleviate the pollution. The final portion will offer insight and further analysis of pollution management practices and what "you" the individual can do.
This video will be targeted towards highschool/collegiate people. We hope to use responsible humor to make our point.

Hey guys so I think a video is a really great idea. Sometimes seeing damage is more stimulating than reading about the damage. I had to watch a frontline video in one of my classes that was about the Puget Sound and it really made me want to get up and do something about it. I think it would be nice to find a way to put humor to it, but at the same time making sure that people understand that this is a serious problem right now and that solutions need to be made. For the video, when talking about sources, if not already planned, it would be nice to see some common day examples of how the community contributes to the pollution of the Sound. Some of the things I was thinking about could be the oil left on the ground from cars, washing cars, sewage, boating and other stuff like that. I feel like people are just unaware of how their daily habits truly have an effect. Either way this sounds like an awesome thing to do. I think people will connect because this is where we all live!
